Campaign: This is your moment
As part of their new student recruitment strategy, Anglia Ruskin University were launching a cinema, TV and online campaign that required a suite of over 140 individual videos.
The project was commissioned by Net Natives, a Higher Education marketing agency, who needed a video production company to create a selection of ‘Hero films’ as well as a huge range of student narrative driven videos that addressed the typical questions that students have when choosing which university to apply for.
Slate and Mortar’s expertise in commercial video production and in particular our experience working within, and producing content for Higher Education marketing meant that we were selected for the task. Shot with two separate film crews over two consecutive days at their main campuses in Chelmsford and Cambridge, the first film crew were tasked primarily with shooting the TV & cinema advert (plus footage for various other edits), whilst the second crew would conduct as many in-depth interviews with students as possible. In total, over five hours of student interview footage was recorded for the editing stage.
With a project as vast as this, with over 140 edits needing to be created, planning and logistics played a huge role. The project was assigned a dedicated account manager (who had a background in Higher Education marketing) and an edit team who worked closely with Net Natives and Anglia Ruskin University. The suite of ‘themed’ films was designed to fit snugly within the university’s student recruitment marketing strategy and consisted of edits of multiple durations and various aspect ratios.
Whilst the logistics of delivering the project itself was a challenge, it really offered us the chance to show that no matter the scope of the workload, at Slate and Mortar we have the resource, organisational skills and technical ability to deliver a hugely successful multi-platform project, on time and on budget.
