Widening Participation Network at University of Warwick
Alumni Engagement
End Client: University of Warwick
Agency Client: Introducing the WP Network
The University of Warwick operates a Widening Participation (WP) network which offers holistic support and networking opportunities for new students from a WP background, allowing them to meet like-minded students who may have shared a similar pathway to Higher Education. To promote this network, the marketing team that supports the WP network was looking to commission a video production company to produce a series of talking head videos, all shot within a single day, that would cover a variety of topics. The videos that had been previously produced had now reached a point of redundancy, with out-of-date information and needed a refresh to align with the new branding.
The narrative would consist of interviews with current WP students and alumni who would talk about the value of the WP network and how they were supported throughout their time at university. We hoped that by hearing how enabling this was, this would ultimately encourage new students to sign up to the WP network.
When working with much smaller budgets, such as with this project, production values should still remain high. Content should be developed and presented based on feasibility, budget range and commissioner objectives in mind. In this case, we knew that nicely framed and well-lit talking head interviews would work, and if produced with attention to detail, they would maintain the viewer’s engagement and focus their attention on the messaging. In addition to this, our video production team decided to use aesthetic portraiture to complement the front and back end of the films.
Feedback from the client has been excellent, and we’re looking forward to working with them again soon.
