IntoUniversity – Widening Participation and Social Mobility
Promotional video
Client: University of Leeds
Project: Widening Participation and Social Mobility
The University of Warwick sought to commission a video highlighting their ongoing collaboration with IntoUniversity, an organisation that offers additional academic support to young individuals aspiring to pursue higher education. As this collaboration was now in its fifth year, they wanted to produce a video that raised awareness of the partnership, spoke about the impact of the work and highlighted the University of Warwick’s commitment to improving social mobility in the region, as well as hearing from the young people and parents who have benefited from the centre.
Collaborating with both organisations during pre-production, Slate and Mortar worked on an initial structure and outline, identifying key messages and contributors for the talking head interviews, and ensuring a well-structured filming process that was conducted over three half-days at the learning centre. This approach allowed flexibility for potential contributors to attend interviews and share their stories.
The final deliverables consisted of a main master edit and a condensed 30-second version suitable for social media, aiming to direct viewers to the partnership website and the full-length film. Feedback from both organisations has been overwhelmingly positive, and Slate and Mortar eagerly anticipate witnessing how the video will further support young students in their pursuit of higher education through IntoUniversity.
